Italian marathon champion Oukhrid Lhoussaine is set to compete in the LifeStar Malta Marathon on February 23, 2025, joining a strong international field. Among the top contenders are three-time French champion Alaa Hrioued, last year’s winner, and six Moroccan athletes, including Aziz Ait Ourkia and Abdelmajied El Hissouf, both with impressive recent performances.

On the women’s side, a highly anticipated showdown is expected between Scottish athlete Jemima Farley, the current course record holder, and Moroccan runner Sana Achahbar, who dominated the 2024 Half Marathon.

The 40th edition of the Malta Marathon is set to be record-breaking, with 4,730 participants, including 2,600 foreign athletes from 80 countries. Maltese runners Andrew Grech and Chalton Debono will also be aiming for strong finishes.

The event will feature multiple race categories, including a 1.5K kids’ race and a 5K charity run, alongside the full and half marathons. With high-level competition and a record number of participants, this year’s race promises to be one of the most exciting yet.
