This October, Malta’s zebra crossings have turned pink as part of the nationwide #PinkOctoberMovember campaign, aimed at raising awareness about the most common cancers affecting women and men.

The “Zebras Go Pink” initiative kicked off on October 1st with a symbolic walk across a newly painted pink and white zebra crossing on the Cospicua promenade steps. The walk was led by campaign leader Michelle Muscat, along with Transport Malta CEO Kurt Farrugia, Michael Cohen, and the mayors of Senglea, Cospicua, Vittoriosa, and Kalkara.

Michelle Muscat emphasized the importance of educating the public on how to properly check themselves, the value of regular screenings, and overcoming the fears that often delay early diagnosis. This year’s campaign focuses on breast, ovarian, and cervical cancers for women, and testicular and prostate cancers for men, with the message of finding inner strength to step forward positively.
